| Description |
English: Bwlch y Rhiwiau and the ruins of Maes-y-llech-uchaf Bwlch y Rhiwiau (Pass of the Steep Slopes) leads from Cwmystradllyn over Mynydd Gorllwyn towards the Glaslyn Valley. The ruinous cottage, near the foot of the pass, is known as 'Maes-y-llech-uchaf' which translates as 'field of the stone, upper' It is the furthest of what once were three dwellings in the field that extended east from the megalith slab known as Meini Hirion SH5442. The track which leads to these houses from the main Cwmystradllyn road begins close to the megalith. The word 'llech' in this context has nothing to do with slate. |
