Description
English: Buxton Settlement is an outcome of the Canadian connection to the Underground Railroad. In 1849 Reverend William King with former black slaves established a farming community which was to extend eventually over 9000 acres. At the time it was known as the Elgin Settlement and for subsequent generations of blacks it has come to respresent freedom.
