Description
English:

Written on image: West [Center], South [Right], Two X's [Left] Written on verso: Picture of the Butler Res. 1701 Grand Ave. Everett - only it was taken before they had roses and vines around the house & flowers to right. It's just a new place built two years ago - I will give you some idea how fine it was X My room.

According to HistoryLink, the Butler-Jackson House was built for William C. Butler in 1910. The description indicates that the third floor was the maid's quarters making it probable that this photograph belonged to Alma Rude, a domestic servant in the Butler's home. Senator Henry M. Jackson, the son of Norwegian immigrants who once delivered the newspaper to the Butler house as a child, later purchased the home in 1967 and lived there with his family until his death in 1983.
