Summary
[edit]DescriptionButano Ridge Chaparral - Flickr - theforestprimeval (51).jpg | This is from a recent trip I took back up to Butano Ridge, a suprisingly remote area in San Mateo County. It contains a few rare plant species. The last time I walked up on this ridge it was pitch black out, and I had to walk back 8 miles aided by a headlamp. There is a strange oak up here, which I believe to be Quercus chrysolepis, but which looks very odd and variable due, most likely, to the edaphic conditions on this ridge. The lichen here is a thick, this is a very special place to me. |
