Summary
[edit]DescriptionBust of Sir Arthur Philip in Cannon Street - geograph.org.uk - 764491.jpg |
English: Bust of Sir Arthur Philip in Cannon Street Until last summer I had never heard of this august gentleman, the first Governor of New South Wales. Then on a canal holiday our hire boat broke down at Bathhampton. While we waited for the mechanic (nothing is very quick on a narrowboat) I went into the church- you can see my photos of Philip by going to Square ST7766 and clicking "Grave" or "Memorial". Then the very next week I was walking around the City churches with my mother and saw a memorial to him in St Mary-le-Bow. This bust used to be in St Mildred Bread Street, which was destroyed in 1941 during an air raid. |
