Victoria and Albert Museum, London, museum no. 4551-1857 (Link) Français : Buste d'Apollon-Phoebus - vers 1730 - Rouen - Victoria and Albert Museum - inventaire 4551-1857 - Faïence à décor de grand feu - Nicolas Fouquay, faïencier.
Ce buste était exposé dans le cabinet de Nicolas Fouquay avec les bustes des 4 saisons, aujourd'hui au Musée du Louvre. Ils furent vendus ensemble en 1846 à des marchands parisiens puis au dixième duc de Hamilton. Le buste d'Apollon-Phoebus fut offert au South Kensigton Museum (qui deviendra le Victoria and Albert Museum) par le onzième duc de Hamilton. Il fut ainsi séparé de la série des 4 saisons en 1857. Les 4 bustes furent achetés par le musée du Louvre en 1882. Il s'agit là d'un des premiers exemples de faïence en ronde-bosse en France qui puisse rivaliser avec la sculpture. Ce sont les plus imposantes jamais réalisées à Rouen. |
