Summary

[edit]
Description
English: as literally millions of people arrive in St. Louis, Missouri to attend the Louisiana Purchase Exposition of 1904, many St. Louis residents rented out space in their homes to tourists. Cartoonist E. A. Bushnell portrayed them as doing so at exorbitant costs; note that the homeowner is leaving for Monte Carlo, presumably to gamble with his newfound fortune.
