Summary
[edit]DescriptionBuses pause at Brazen Bottom - geograph.org.uk - 2587533.jpg |
English: Two Routemaster buses, RML2735 (reg. SMK 735F) on the left, RM1005 (reg. 5 CLT) on the right, pictured while operating the 2011 Imber bus service, the once a year service connecting the abandoned village of Imber in Wiltshire to the rest of the world. Imber was evacuated during World War II, and is now part of the Salisbury Plain army training estate. This is 'Brazen Bottom', one of the temporary termii set up for the service. It's located on the training area perimiter road and named after the abandoned Brazen Bottom Farm a few hundred metres away to the east. In this section of the service, buses can arrive here (from Gore Cross) via either direction, one being the direct route, the other being longer and via some (inhabited) villages. The buses here are facing SSW, the direction for the direct route to Gore Cross. Gore Cross is an interchange for the service, with routes from there also going to Warminster via Imber, Tilshead, or New Zealand Farm Camp (another temporary terminus). RML2735 has already set its blinds for a return journey to Warminster. |
