BURPEE'S SEED CORN. 107 BURPEE'S GOLDEN BEAUTY CORN. The productiveness of the Golden Beauty is due to the economical shape of the ears and the fact that a large proportion of the stalks produce two tine ears. It is the largest grained and handsomest yellow corn we have ever seen. The ears are of perfect shape, with ten to fourteen straight rows of brightest golden-yellow grains, of remarkable size, and completely tilled out to the extreme end of cob. The cobs are unusually small; when broken in half, the grains will always reach across. The richness of color and tine quality of grain make it very superior for grinding into meal. The ears are easily shelled, al- though the kernels are firm on the ear, and in every"respect present as perfect a type as could be desired. The stalks take a strong hold in the ground; grow vigorously to a height of eight to ten feet. In 1885 C. W. Holman's, West Willington, Conn., prize crop was 158% bushels shelled corn on one acre. Price 10 cts. per package; 30 cts. per ft>; 3 lbs. for 75 cts., postpaid, by mail. By express or freight, per peck 65 cts.; per bushel $2.00 ; per sack of 2 bushels $3.50; 10 bushels or more at $1.60 per bushel, sacks included. EARLY MASTODON DENT CORN. Descriptive of this Corn we quote the following:— "I claim that it is the largest-eared early Dent Corn ever seen in this section of the country, and the largest grain of any early Dent Corn. It grows strong, rank, quick, and makes the finest appearing shelled corn of them all, being purely Dent, of two shades of white and yellow. To convince your customers that it will ripen with them, just say that it was grown within eight miles of Lake Erie." Prices same as for Golden Beauty. CHESTER COUNTY MAMMOTH. It yields, under good cultivation, from one hun- dred to one hundred and forty bushels shelled corn per acre. The ears are very large, containing fourteen to thirty-two rows of medium-sized yellow grains. It furnishes a large amount of fodder, growing twelve to sixteen feet high. It is, undoubtedly, one of the best yellow varieties for good land in this latitude and the South, but cannot be relied upon to mature sufficiently early for the North. Prices same as for Golden Beauty. HICKORY KING CORN. This white field Corn has the largest grains, with the smallest cob, of any white Corn yet introduced. So large are the grains and so extremely small the cob that on an ear broken in half a single grain will utmost completely cover the cob section. No other variety of field Corn that we have ever seen will do this. "Of strong, vigorous growth, the stalks take a firm hold in the ground and stand upright, resist- ing the severe storms. The stalks generally bear too good ears each, and occasionally three. It yields splendid crops on light soil, and is undoubtedly the best and most productive white field Corn for the South. We do not, however, consider it a safe crop north of Pennsylvania. The ears are well filled and will make more shelled corn to bulk of ears than any other variety. Per large pkt. 10 cts.; per lb. 35 cts.; or 3 lbs. for 80 cts., postpaid, by mail. By express or freight, per peck 60 cts.; bushel $2.00 ; sack of 2 bushels $3.75. EARLY CANADA YELLOW FLINT. We consider our selected stock the best strain of hard-grained, eight-rowed, yellow Flint Corn in cultivation. It matures in about ninety days, and while not so productive as the varieties of Dent Corn, is valuable for the short seasons of the far North, and also for second planting. Per pkt. 10 cts.; ft) 30 cts.; 3 ft>s. 75 cts., postpaid. By freight, per peck 60 cts.; bushel §2.00. NEW CONNECTICUT GOLDEN GIANT FLINT CORN. This is the largest-eared and handsomest yellow Flint Corn we have ever seen. The gigantic ears frequently reach eighteen inches in length and are always well filled. It matures early, and certainly few other varieties make such fine ears for exhibi- tion at County or State Fairs. Per pkt, 10 cts.; per ft) 40 cts., postpaid. Bv express or freight, per peck 81.00; per bushel §3.50". Supply limited.
