BURPEE'S FARM SEEDS. lOI BURPEE'S The productiveness of the Golden Beauty is due to the economical shape of the earsâone of which, reduced in size, is accurately illustrated herewithâ and to the fact that a large proportion of the stalks produce two fine ears. It is undoubtedly the largest grain and handsomest yellow corn that we have ever seen. The ears are of perfect shape, with from ten to fourteen straight rows of brightest golden-yellow grains, of remarkable size, and filled out completely to the extreme end of cob. The cobs are unusually sm.iU; when broken in half the grains will always reach across. The richness of color and fine quality of grain make it very superior for grinding into meal. The grains are not of hard, flinty type, neither are they so soft as to be great'y shriveled, as in the Golden Dent. The ears are easily shelled, although the kernels are firm on the ear, and in every respect present as perfect a type as could be desired. The stalks take a strong hold in the ground; grow vigorously to a height of eight to ten feet. It matures generally as early as Farmers' Favorite, and surpasses all varieties of Golden Dent in size and beauty of grain and immense productiveness. In 1885 we offered a cash prize of 325.03 for the largest yield of one acre of the Golden Beauty Corn, which was won byC. W. Hol- man, Esq , West Willington, Conn, whose crop was 158bushels shelled corn on one acre. Price 10 cts. per package : 30 cts. per ft); 3 ft)s. for 75 cts , postpaid, by mail. By e.tpress or freight, per pack 65 cts.; per bushel $2.00; per sack of 2 bushels $3.50; 10 ljushels or more at $1.60 per bushel, sacks inclu i- ed, free of charge. * The Learning, in character, is somewhat of a Dent variety ; ears are of good size, set low down, and nearly always two good ears to each stalk. Very small, red cob, with a deep, long gr lin, of a rich golden color. It withstands severe drought. This we attribute to its earliness in maturing, strong and vigorous growth and its stocky and leafy nature, which enables it to stand up until ripe, thereby protecting the soil from dryness caused by the heat of the sun. It matures reasonably early. Per pkt. 10 cts.; ft) 30 cts.; 3 ft)s. 75 cts., postpaid. By express or freight, peck 60 cts.: per bushel $1.75; one sack, containing two bushels, $3.50. Ten bushels or more at $1.50 per bushel, sacks included. FARMERS' F^Vei^IiFE 60LDEj'^ DENT. It ripens reasonably earl)-, and produces unusually well even on light land. With ordinary cultivation it fre- quently yields n nety to one hundred bushels of shelled corn per acre. The ears are of large size; small, red cobs, well filled out to the end, with large, deep grains of a most beautiful, bright, golden-yellow color It does not get hard for feeding, but is easily digested and very nutritious ; it makes a fine and mellow corn meal, of very superior quality and appearance. The stalks griw eight to ten feet high, with abundant foliage, and take a strong hold in the ground. Per pkt. 10 cts.; Ib3Tcts. : 3 ft)s. 75 cts., postpaid, by mail. B3'express orf-eight, peck 6Dcts.; per bushel $1.75; per sack of two bushels $3.15. Ten bushels or more at $1.50 per bushel, sacks included. QUEEN 0P TPE PR^I^IE, OR PRIDE OF THE NORTH EARLY GOLDEN DENT CORN. This variety has smaller ears than the Farmers' Favorite, but is valuable to grow further North, as it matures earlier. Planted as late as Juh' 4th, it has full/ matured bv October ist. The ears ha\ e from 14 to 16 rows, grow 8 to 10 inches in length, slightly taper- ing, -rhe kernels are closely set together on the cob, of a light orange color at the outer end, darker in color lower. The stalks usually grow 6 to 8 feet in height, producing one to two good ears. Per pkt. to cts. : ft) o cts. ; 3 Bis. 75 cts., postpaid.
