Summary
[edit]DescriptionBurlough Castle - geograph.org.uk - 936148.jpg |
English: Burlough Castle Earthworks built on top of a natural rise overlooking the Cuckmere valley north of ALfriston. Believed to be a Norman motte and bailey castle though Neolithic flint axe heads have also been found at the site. The last remnants of the walls were removed in the 18th century though the place was reputed to be a haunt of fairies. |
