Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The "Burgund", the oldest dated cannon with trunnions. The gun was cast, as evidenced by its inscription, in the year 1474 by the cannon founder Jean de Malines who stood in the service of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy. It was captured in the Battle of Grandson (1476) by the victorious Swiss and is today on display at the Historisches Museum Basel (Inv. 1874.95).
