Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This is a detail of a true-colour image of the area in British Columbia’s Yoho National Park in which the Burgess Shale Formation is cropping out. This formation is renowned for its abundance of well-preserved Cambrian fossils. The fossil sites are located on the elevations that are flanking the valley of the Kicking Horse River. Two of the most famous sites, the Walcott Quarry and the Mount Stephen trilobite beds locality are located on Fossil Ridge and on the western slope of Mount Stephen, respectively (see annotations).
