Die auf einem steilen Felssporn hoch über der Lahnmündung stehende Burg wurde Mitte des 13 Jahrhundert erbaut. Bauherr soll der Mainzer Erzbischof und Kurfürst Siegfried von Eppenstein gewesen sein. 1312 sollen sie den letzten zwölf Tempelrittern als Fluchtburg gedient haben. Die Burg ist heute im Besitz der Familie Mischke. Deren Vorfahr, der Vizeadmiral der kaiserlichen Marine Robert Mischke hatte die Anlage 1909 erworben. Die Burg kann gegen eine geringe Gebühr besichtigt werden. Ausserdem gibt es dort oben ein Restaurant. Die Anlage gehört zum UNESCO Welterbe 'Mittelrheintal'.

The on a rocky spur high-above the Lahn mouth castle was built in the mid 13th century. The client was perhaps the Erzbischof of Mainz and Kurfürst Siegfried von Eppenstein. 1312 they should have served the last twelve Knights Templar as a refuge. The castle is now owned by the family Mischke. Their ancestor, the Vice Admiral of the Imperial Navy Robert Mischke had acquired the plant 1909th The castle can be visited for a small fee. There is also a restaurant up there.

The plant is part of the UNESCO heritage 'Middle Rhine Valley'.
