Leipzig, Hotel "Merkur" ADN-ZB 11.3.1981 Leipziger Hotel "Merkur" für Messezeit bereit Unmittelbar vor der Leipziger Frühjahrsmesse (15.-21.3.81) wird das neue Fünf-Sterne-Hotel "Merkur" eröffnet. Das etwa 100 Meter hohe Hotel mit 27 Geschossen wurde von dem Tokioter Bauunternehmen Cajina Corporation projektiert. Mit rund 450 Zimmern, zehn Restaurants und Bars, fünf Salons und einem Kongreßzentrum zählt Hotel "Merkur" zur internationalen Spitzenklasse und bietet Attraktionen wie einen japanischen Garten mit Wasserfall, Teichen und Lampiongirlanden sowie das Nationalitätenrestaurant "Sakura". Unser Foto zeigt den Blick vom Sachsenplatz auf das Hotel "Merkur". Es wurde an der nördlichen Ausfahrtstraße zur Autobahn nur wenige hundert Meter vom innenstädtischen Straßenring und zum Hauptbahnhof entfernt errichtet.
