Das tausendjährige Bautzen ist reich an Baudenkmälern, die liebevoll renoviert oder konserviert werden. So auch das Wahrzeichen der Stadt Bautzen die Alte Wasserkunst. Ihr erster Bau wurde 1495-96 fertiggestellt. Die Alte Wasserkunst diente neben der Wasserversorgung der Stadt Bautzen mit Spreewasser zugleich der Stadtverteidigung. Die Spree fließt unmittelbar an dem historischen Bau entlang. Im Hintergrund sieht man die Michaeliskirche der evangelischen Sorben.
