For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Eisenach, Karlstraße, Ratsapotheke, Bürgerhäuser ADN-ZB Ludwig-19.6.79 Bez. Erfurt. Schöne DDR - Zu den belebtesten Straßen im Zentrum von Eisenach gehört die Karlstraße. Besucher, die einige Jahre nicht in der Wartburg-Stadt waren, bemerken angenehme Veränderungen. So wurden viele Häuser renoviert, und wo früher wegen der Straßenbahn wenig Platz für Fußgänger blieb, kann man heute bequem über den Boulevard bummeln. Neben Erfurt und Weimar gehört Eisenach zu den meistbesuchten Städten des Bezirks. Hauptanziehungspunkte sind neben der Wartburg die Museen und Gedenkstätten Eisenachs, so die Gedenkstätte des Eisenacher Parteitages 1869, das Bach- und das Luther-Haus sowie das Thüringer Museum und die Innenstadt mit ihren historischen Gebäuden.
