For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Kinderheim Fabrikantenvilla wird Kinderheim. "Die Jugend nimmt in der DDR einen bedeutenden Platz ein. Ihre Teilnahme am Aufbau eines neuen Lebens und am Kampf der Nationalen Front des demokratischen Deutschland für die Einheit unseres Vaterlandes ist die Hauptbedingung für eine wahre demokratische Erziehung unserer Jugend im Geiste der Freundschaft mit den Völkern und des Friedens" heißt es im Beschluß des Politbüros der SED vom 18.1.50. Auch die vorschulische Erziehung der Kinder muß mit besonderer Sorgfalt geschehen. Die Umgebung, in der die Kinder aufwachsen, ist von besonderer Wichtigkeit. Das Sozialamt Berlin-Weißensee hat eine Villa, die dem ehem. Fabrikbesitzer Lembke in Höhenschönhausen gehörte, zu einer Kinderkrippe ausgebaut.
