For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Leipzig, "Altes Rathaus" ADN-ZB Gahlbeck 12.2.77 Leipzig: Rathaus-Spiegeleien am Leipziger Markt. Das Alte Rathaus (r.) wurde vor über 400 Jahren von Hironymus Lotter errichtet. Das Rathaus zeugt ebenso wie die alten Handels- und Patrizierhäuser am Markt vom erfolgreichen Wirken der Bauschaffenden, Abgeordneten und Denkmalspfleger. Bis 1980 werden weitere Gebäude und Straßenzüge der über 800jährigen Handelsmetropole restauriert und rekonstruiert.
