For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Karl-Marx-Stadt, Bauarbeiter, Besprechung ADN-ZB Strurm 30.4.74- Zur Reportage "Freuden und Sorgen der Städteplaner" Karl-Marx-Stadt, viertgröste Stadt der Republik, ist auf dem besten Weg, Anziehungspunkt für Touristen zu werden. Die einst häsliche Stadt, die alte Arbeiter verbittert "Rus-Chemnitz" nannten, hat viel neues und schönes vorzuweisen. Fast jede dritte Familie zog bereits in eine Neubauwohnung. Die reichen Traditionen der Arbeiterbewegung findet man auf Strasen, Plätzen und in Gebäuden der Stadt in zahlreichen bildkünstlerischen Arbeiten dargestellt. Karl-Marx-Stadt ist interessant geworden. UBz: Erbauer des neuen Karl-Marx-Stadt: Rudolf Hähnert, Baubrigadier und Stadtverordneter (rechts), auf der Baustelle Kappel verständigt sich mit seinen Kollegen über den zügigen Bauablauf.
