For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Dimitroffstraße, Gaswerk ADN-ZB Sturm 16.10.1971 Berlin: Lufthygiene . Die Verunreinigung der atmosphärischen Luft in der DDR-Hauptstadt ist, verglichen mit anderen Großstädten des In- und Auslandes, als mäßig zu bezeichnen. Allerdings führen die Abgase des Gaswerkes Dimitroffstraße (Bild) und in einigen weiteren dichtbesiedelten Stadtgebieten zu übermäßigen Schadstoffkonzentrationen. In den demokratischen Aussprachen zur Vorbereitung der Wahlen der obersten Volksvertretungen stellen Bürger immer wieder dieses Problem zur Diskussion. Die Verfassung und das Landeskulturgesetz verpflichten zu wirksamen Maßnahmen gegen die Beeinträchtiigung der natürlichen Umwelt. Der Bau von Anlagen zur Luftreinhaltung ist als ein neuer Industriezweig entstanden und gibt die Gewähr, daß dicke Rauchwolken am Himmel eines Tages der Vergangenheit angehören werden.
