For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild Franke 9.12.70 Berlin: Nierentransplantationszentrum- Auf sein einjähriges erfolgreiches Bestehen blickt das Nierentransplantationszentrum im Berliner Krankenhaus Friedrichshain am "Tag des Gesundheitswesens" (11.12.) 1970 zurück. 26 Transplantationen führte das Ärztekollektiv unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Mebel bis zum 21.11.1970 aus. Das Zentrum, eine der modernsten klinischen Einrichtungen der DDR, genießt bereits internationales Ansehen. Eine Besonderheit der Arbeit des Zentrums besteht in der engen Verbindung zwischen klinischer Tätigkeit und tierexperimenteller Forschung. In der Abteilung für experimentelle Organtransplantationen der Charité, die ihren Sitz im Krankenhaus Friedrichshain hat, werden Nieren bei Hunden transplantiert, auf userem Foto von Dr. Eberhard Neupert (r) und Dr. Manfred Berger. Solche Experimente dienen der Erprobung neuer Operationsmethoden. Hier geht es um die Gefäßanastomose (Gefäßverbindung) der transplantierten Hundeniere mit Hilfe neuartiger Nahtinstrumente, die von Dr. med. habil. Thomas Erdmann, dem Oberarzt der Forschungsabteilung, entwickelt wurden. Diese Instrumente ermöglichen eine wesentliche Verkürzung der Zeit, die zum Anschluß der Gefäße benötigt wird. |
