Zentralbild Deutsche Demokratische Republik 30.1.1970 schw Zum 25. Jahrestag der Zerstörung der Elbmetropole Dresden am 13. und 14.2.1970 "Seht auf diese Stadt!" - Aus den Trümmern des II. Weltkrieges neu erstanden, grüßt sie ihre Besucher. Ihre Straßenzüge, die am 13. und 14. Februar 1945 durch militärisch völlig sinnlose Terrorangrifffe amerikanischer und englischer Bomberstaffeln in Schutt und Asche sanken und etwa 35000 Menschen unter sich begruben, wurden nach neuen modernen Gesichtspunkten wieder errichtet. Unser Foto zeigt den Blick auf das Stadtzentrum mit der breiten Ernst-Thälmann-Straße. Im Vordergrund erhebt sich der Barockbau der Kreuzkirche. Der Wiederaufbau Dresdens ist jedoch noch nicht beendet. Planmäßig und zügig schreitet die Neugestaltung der Bezirkshauptstadt als wichtiges Industrie-, Verkehrs- und Kulturzentrum der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik voran.
