For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Dresden, Frauenkirche Zentralbild Sturm 18.10.1967 Zum Mahnmal einer grausigen Bombennacht ist jetzt die einst prächtige Frauenkirche Dresdens geworden. Die Frauenkirche am Neumarkt wurde von Georg Bähr 1726-1743 erbaut; in der Nacht vom 13. zum 14. Februar 1945 wurde sie und alle anderen historischen Bauwerke durch anglo-amerikanische Bombenverbände ein Raub der Flammen. Als Mahnmal sinnloser Zerstörung steht die Ruine der Frauenkirche im neuen Dresden.
