For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Leipzig, Messegelände Zentralbild tre 28.12.1964 Das Gelände der Technischen Messe 1945 - und heute Das Erbe des Hitlerfaschismus war katastrophal. Auch die Einrichtungen der Leipziger Messe hatte der Bombenterror verwüstet. Beinahe 80 Prozent der Messanlagen und Messehäuser lagen zerstört. Das Gelände der Technischen Messe glich einem Ruinenfeld (unser Foto - oben). Heute werden die Messehäuser der Innenstadt und das Gelände der Technischen Messe mit seinen neuerbauten Hallen, Pavillons und dem ausgedehnten Freigelände (unser Foto - unten) wieder voll für die Belange der Leipziger Messe genutzt. Insgesamt steht eine Ausstellungsfläche von über 300000 m² zur Verfügung.
