For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Rostock, Überseehafen, Frachtschiff am Massengutkai Zentralbild Karnitzki tre 8.12.1964 Rund 4 300 Schiffe aus 17 Ländern...steuerten bisher in diesem Jahr Seehäfen der DDR an. Davon kam auch eine große Anzahl aus dem kapitalistischen Ausland. Im gleichen Zeitraum wurden in Rostock (unser Foto zeigt den sowjetischen Mehrzweckfrachter "Daschawa" am Massengutkai), Wismar und Stralsund 7, 5 Millionen Tonnen Güter umgeschlagen. Das ist gegenüber 1958 eine Steigerung von mehr als 100 Prozent.
