For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Magdeburg, Wilhelm-Pieck-Allee, Johanniskirche Zentralbild Biscan Stö-Ri. 7.9.1964 15 Jahre DDR - 15 Jahre Aufbau Magdeburgs Magdeburg, dessen Stadtzentrum kurz vor Kriegsende durch anglo-amerikanische Bomben fast gänzlich zerstört worden war, bot vor 15 Jahren noch ein trauriges Bild. Die Umgebung der Johannis-Kirche war ein einziges Trümmerfeld. 1964 beginnt an dieser Stelle die Wilhelm-Pieck-Allee mit ihren eindrucksvollen Wohnhäusern und modernen Geschäften.
