For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Zentralbild-Kollektiv Ge-Pr 26.4.1964 2. Bitterfelder Konferenz (1. Tag). Die 2. Bitterfelder Konferenz wurde am Vormittag des 24.4.1964 in Anwesenheit des Ersten Sekretärs des ZK der SED und Vorsitzenden des Staatsrates, Walter Ulbricht, im Kulturpalast des Elektrochemischen Kombinats der Chemiestadt eröffnet. Veranstalter sind die Ideologische Kommission beim Politbüro des ZK der SED und das Kulturministerium. Über 1000 Künstler und Kulturfunktionäre aus der DDR nehmen teil. Prof. Wolfgang Heinz sprach zu Beginn der Konferenz die Worte Johannes R. Bechers vom Auftrag des Künstlers im sozialistischen Staat.
