For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Schafstädt, Bauer beim Füttern Zentralbild Martin 22.9.1960 So ernten die Schafstädter Maismusketiere ! Vor zehn Tagen begann in Schafstädt, Kreis Merseburg, die Silomaisernte. Die Maismusketiere der LPG "Friedrich Engels" haben 320 Hektar Mais nach der Manukowski-Methode angebaut und Gepflegt. Von diesem sowjetischen Neuerer haben sie auch gelernt, wie man Silomais verlustlos birgt. Die Maismusketiere aus Schafstädt arbeiten mit drei sowjetischen Mähhackslern vom Typ SK 2, 6 im Komplexeinsatz, wobei eine Reparaturbrigade eisatsbereit steht. Die Arbeitszeit dauert von 4.00 Uhr früh bis 23.00 Uhr.Der durchschnittliche Ertrag pro Hektar beträgt 650 dt, wobei einige Schläge sogar über 800dt liefern. UBz: Frische Maissilage wird auch vom Rinderpfleger Kurt Lehmann an die Rinder im Offenstall verfütter. Der Mais wird direkt vom LKW in die Krippen geworfen.Der LKW kann mit seinen Anhänger durch die Offenställe hindurchfahren.
