For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild-Sturm 8.6.1960 Stu-Noa. Rostock - der Ostseebezirk der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik...entwickelt sich seit Bestehen der DDR von einem Agrarbezirk zu einem hervorragenden Industriebezirk. Auf seinen 7 028 qkm leben 828 200 Menschen. Der Ostseebezirk ist die Basis der DDR für den Güterumschlag nach Übersee, für den Schiffbau, den Fischfang sowie die fischverarbeitende Industrie. Unter dem Motto: Die Ostsee - ein Meer des Friedens - vereinigen sich in jedem Jahr die friedliebenden Vertreter der Ostseeländer zu einem Fest der Freundschaft und des Friedens (Ostseewoche vom 4.7. bis 10.7.1960). UBz: Das sowjetische 22 000 BRT große Fahrgastschiff "Juri Dolgoruki", wird in der Warnow-Werft zu einem Walfangmutterschiff umgebaut. Die Warnow-Werft ist die größte Werft der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik, auf der moderne Hochseeschiffe gebaut werden. Arbeiter und Ingenieure schufen die Voraussetzungen, daß bis 1965 54 Schiffe gebaut werden können. Es sind solche Schiffstypen wie: Kohleerzfrachter von 9 500 tdw., Dieselfrachter von 12 000 tdw. und Mehrzweckfrachter von 10 000 tdw." |
