For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild-Pommerening 4.5.1960 We-Qu. Zum 15. Jahrestag der Befreiung - Die Ostseeküste ein bedeutendes Schiffbauzentrum. Zu einem der bedeutendsten Schiffbauzentren des Sozialistischen Lagers hat sich die Ostseeküste der DDR mit den vier Hochseewerften in Warnemünde, Rostock, Wismar und Stralsund entwickelt. Hinzu kommen 11 mittlere und kleine Schiffbaubetriebe an der Küste und im Binnenland. Auf diesen Werften, die gegenwärtig 40 000 Schiffbauer beschäftigen, sind unter der Arbeiter- und Bauernmacht mehr als 330 Schiffe mit einer Gesamttonnage von über 900 000 BRT gebaut worden. Ein großer Teil davon wurde exportiert, vor allem in die Sowjetunion. UBz. Auch die jetzt mit 110 Jahren älteste Ostseewerft "Neptun" in Rostock erlebte nach 1945 einen stürmischen Aufschwung. Waren es unter kapitalistischen Bedingungen im Höchstfalle 3 000 Beschäftigte, so sind es jetzt weit über 8 000. Es werden vorwiegend 3 000-Tonnen-Motorschiffe für die Sowjetunion gebaut. |
