For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild Stöhr-23.2.1960 Helga Engel bereitet sich für die Reise mit dem Urlauberschiff vor. Helga Engel, Mitglied der Jugendbrigade "Renate Kruse" im Berliner Glühlampenwerk wird auf Grund ihrer guten Arbeit in der Steckenpferdbewegung an der 1. Fahrt des FDGB-Urlauberschiffes "Völkerfreundschaft" teilnehmen. Die Brigade verpflichtete sich 60.000 Glühlampen zusätzlich zum Plan für den Export zu fertigen. "Als ich erfuhr", erzählte Helga, "daß ich für die 1. Fahrt mit der Völkerfreundschaft vorgeschlagen war, wollte ich es erst garnicht glauben. Ich freue mich sehr auf die Reise. Reisefieber? Ja, das hat mich beim Kofferpacken nun doch gepackt, denn in wenigen Stunden gehöre ich zu den Glücklichen, die ohne finanzielle Zuwendung eine solche schöne Reise ins Mittelmeer erleben dürfen."
