For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Jahnsdorf, Bäuerin mit Ferkel Zentralbild Gahlbeck 8.1.1960 LPG Jahnsdorf erreicht hohe Fleischproduktion durch Anwendung wissenschaftlicher Fütterungsmethoden. Im Jahr 1959 erreichte die Landwirtschaftliche Produktionsgenossenschaft "Vorwärts" in Jahnsdorf, Kreis Stollberg, eine Fleischproduktion von 390 Kilo pro Hektar landwirtschaftlicher Nutzfläche. Die Genossenschaftsbauern benötigten für die Erzeugung eines Doppelzentners Schweinefleisch 4, 4 Doppelzentner Getreideeinheiten. Dieser Futterverbrauch liegt weit unter dem DDR-Durchschnitt. Durch gute Pflege konnte bei der Ferkelaufzucht die Sterblichkeit auf 9 Prozent gesenkt werden. Der verhältnismäßig geringe Futteraufwand für die Schweinemast ist zurückzuführen auf sorgfältige Futterzubereitung, rationellen Einsatz der Futtermittel und die genaue Einhaltung des Futterplanes. Außerdem wird bei der Schweinemast Molke und Fischsilage zugefüttert. Die LPG will die Ziele des Siebenjahresplanes bereits in sechs Jahren erreicht haben. UBz: Verantwortlich für die rationelle Ausnutzung des Futters und die gesunde Aufzucht ist die Produktionsleiterin der LPG, die staatlich geprüfte Landwirtin Annemarie Arnold. Die gesunden Ferkel sind ihr besonderer Stolz."
