Erste Ölspalt-Gasanlage der DDR in Betrieb genommen. In der Hafenstadt Rostock wurde jetzt eine der größten Ölspalt-Anlagen der Welt in Betrieb genommen. Die Leistung dieses ersten Werkes seiner Art in der DDR beträgt nach Fertigstellung pro Tag 128 000 Kubikmeter Gas und steigert damit Gasproduktion in der nördlichsten Bezirksstadt der DDR um mehr als das Doppelte. Die vollautomatische Anlage, für deren Bedienung pro Schicht nur zwei Maschinisten benötigt werden, entstand in Gemeinschaftsarbeit von Ingenieuren und Monteuren aus Westdeutschland, England und der DDR. Der Standort der Anlagen ist im Hinblick auf den Bau des neuen Rostocker Umschlagplatzes äusserst günstig.
