For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Eisleben, I. Arbeiterfestspiele, Abschlussveranstaltung Zentralbild Schmidt-Schaar 22.6.1959 Arbeiterfestspiele beendet. Die 1. Arbeiterfestspiele in der DDR fanden am Abend des 21.6.1959 mit einer Festveranstaltung auf dem Marktplatz der Bergarbeiterstadt Eisleben ihren Abschluß. Viele tausend Einwohner, unter ihnen Berg- und Hüttenarbeiter des Mansfelder Landes mit ihren Angehörigen, erfreuten sich an dem Festprogramm der IG Bergbau "Kohle, das ist Licht, Wärme, Leben". Zu Beginn der Veranstaltung sprach das Mitglied des Präsidiums des FDGB-Bundesvorstandes, Roland Günther. (Näheres siehe ADN-Meldung Nr. 204 v. 22.6.1959) UBz: Blick auf den Marktplatz.
