For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Leipzig, Flughafen, Tower, Flugzeuge Zentralbild Schmidt Hein-Noa A.V.2725 3.1.1959. Telefoto 5.1.1959. Große Begeisterung über den Start der Mondrakete auf dem Flughafen in Leipzig-Mockau. Seit Bekanntwerden des Startes der sowjetischen Mondrakete stehen die Angestellten des Flughafens Leipzig-Mockau an den Radios und an den Funkgeräten, um die Sendezeichen zu hören. "Den besten Beweis haben die sowjetischen Wissenschaftler durch diese gewaltige Friedenstat der Weltraumerforschung gezeigt, mit der sie eindeutig in der Welt an der Spitze stehen," sagten der Kommandodispatcher Fiedler und die Dispatcharin Karin Stöhr auf dem Kommandoturm das Flughafens Leipzig-Mockau.
