Zentralbild / Quasch / Löwe, 16.12.1957 Erster Reaktor der DDR in Betrieb genommen. Der erste Atomreaktor der DDR, der in der Nähe von Dresden errichtet wurde, ist am 16.12.1957 mittags in Betrieb genommen worden. Es waren anwesend Volkskammerpräsident Dr. h. c. Johannes Dieckmann, Ministerpräsident Otto Grotewohl, der Stellvertreter des Vorsitzenden des Ministerrats Fritz Selbmann und weitere Mitglieder der Regierung sowie Mitglieder des Politbüros des ZK der SED und Mitglieder des wissenschaftlichen Rates für die friedliche Anwendung der Atomenergie, Prof. Dr. Barwich. Der Leiter des Zentralinstituts für Kernphysik in Dresden übernahm den Schlüssel des Reaktorgebäudes. UBz: Fritz Selbmann während seiner Festansprache.
