Zentralbild Rössing 5. Mai 1956. Der Staat der Arbeiter und Bauern sorgt für die Kinder der Arbeiter und Bauern. Leipziger Arbeiter und Bauern. Von 600 auf 1700 erhöhte sich die Zahl der studierenden Arbeiter und Bauernkinder im Verlaufe des ersten Fünfjahrplans an der Leipziger Arbeiter- und Bauernfakultät. Da das alte ABF-Gebäude in der Döllnitzerstraße nicht mehr ausreichte, wurde ein neues großes Gebäude gebaut, das u. a. 18 neue Unterrichtsräume enthält. Die Zahl der Plätze in den Wohnheimen der Fakultät stieg von 250 auf 700. Gab es im Jahre 1950 nur einen kleinen Spezialraum für Biologie, Physik und Chemie sowie eine kleine Bücherei, so stehen den Studenten heute ein volleingerichtetes Chemie- und Physiklabor und drei Biologieräume sowie Zimmer für Sammlungen und eine Bibliothek mit 10.000 Bänden zur Verfügung. Die Zahl der Lehrkräfte beträgt heute 140 gegenüber 47 im Jahre 1950. An Stipendien erhalten die Leipziger ABF-Studenten von der Regierung monatlich insgesamt 350.000 DM.
