For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Magdeburg, Röntgenstraße, Ruinen
Zentralbild Biscan 10 Mot. 10.10.1955 Kriegsschäden in gemeinsamer Arbeit überwunden 800 Wohnungen mit staatlicher Hilfe wieder aufgebaut Die Heimstätten-Baugenossenschaft in Magdeburg-Westerplan hat durch anglo-amerikanische Bomben 52 % ihres gesamten Bestandes an Wohnraum verloren. Weitere 40 %wurden mehr oder wemiger stark beschädigt. 4,8 Millionen staatliche Beihilfe und 1,5 Millionen eigene Mittel versetzten die Genossenschaft in die Lage, 800 ( acht null null) der zerstörten und beschädigten Wohnungen wieder instandzusetzen und 450 (vier fünf null) Wohnungen neu zu bauen. Dank der unermüdlichen Aufbauarbeit der Genossenschafter und der Kollegen des Patenbetriebes, des Schwermaschinenbaues "Ernst Thälmann", konnte besonders wirtschaftlich gearbeitet und große Summen eingespart werden. Das Finanzministerium und die Deutsche Investionsbank haben das geprüft und der Genossenschaft ihre Anerkennung ausgesprochen. UBz: So sah es nahezu in allen Strassen der Siedlung WESTERNPLAN aus: Eine Ruine reihte sich an die andere, wie hier in der Röntgenstrasse. |
