For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Leipzig, Hauptbahnhof, Bauarbeiten, Halle 4 Zentralbild Bez.Red.Leipzig-Opitz Ke-Ku. 2 Motive 8.8.1955 Überdachungsarbeiten auf dem Hauptbahnhof Leipzig Noch vor der Leipziger Herbstmesse 1955 werden die Bahnsteige 15 - 18 des Leipziger Hauptbahnhofs überdacht sein. Für den ersten Bauabschnitt stehen 800 cbm Holz, 500 to Eisen, etwa 10.000 qm Drahtglas und 40 to Farbe zur Verfügung. Die Verglasung des Hauptbahnhofs Leipzig zählt zu den Schwerpunktinvestitionen der Reichsbahn. Im März dieses Jahres wurde mit diesen Arbeiten begonnen, die in 4 Bauabschnitte eingeteilt sind. 1958 soll der ursprüngliche Zustand des Leipziger Hauptbahnhofs wieder hergestellt sein. UBz: Blick in die Halle 4. Während die rechte Hälfte bereits überdacht und für den Zugverkehr wieder freigegeben ist, geht die linke Hälfte der Halle ihrer Vollendung entgegen. Im Vordergrund das fahrbare Montagegerüst bei den Überdachungsarbeiten.
