For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Eilsleben, Anlegen eines Entwässerungsgrabens Zentralbild Biscan 25.9.1953 1000 ha Kulturland werden gewonnen. Dank der grosszügigen Hilfe unserer Regierung, die bisher 680.000 DM zur Verfügung gestellt hat, kann der sogenannte Seeische Bruch in der Höhe von Eilsleben trockengelegt werden. Zu diesem Zweck werden 70 cm tiefe Gräben durch den ganzen Bruch gezogen und Drainröhren in einer Gesamtlänge von 610 ha gelegt. Durch diese Binnenentwässerung werden 1000 ha Moorwiesen, die mehr als 400 Bauern und Volksgütern der Umgeburg gehören, in fruchtbaren Ackerboden verwandelt. UBz: Die riesige Bodenfräse der Haiderslebener Privatfirma Wilhelm Arndt, die in der Stunde einen 70 Zentimeter tiefen Graben bis zu 280 Meter Länge ausfräst. Diese Maschinen - die Konstruktion eines Ingenieurs der Magdeburger Hochschule für Schwermaschinenbau - leistet die Arbeit von 100 Menschen. In Deutschland gibt es keine zweite solche Maschine.
