For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Zentralbild-Biscan 10.8.1953 SOS an der Ostseeküste. Der Wasserrettungsdienst des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes in den Ostseebädern. Das Deutsche Rote Kreuz hat 1953 in den Ostseebädern einen Wasserrettungsdienst eingerichtet, der mit erfahrenen Rettungsschwimmern besetzt ist und die Aufgabe hat, in Ertrinkungsgefahr geratene Feriengäste zu retten. - Unser Reporter fotografierte den Wasserrettungsdienst von Graal-Müritz über und unter Wasser. UBz: Ein Abschnitt des herrlichen Badestrandes von Graal-Müritz. An dieser Stelle des Strandes baden die Ferienkinder der "Derutra". Trotz gewissenhafter Aufsicht ist es möglich, daß einmal ein Junge oder Mädchen zu weit hinausschwimmt und in Ertrinkungsgefahr gerät. Genau so leicht können natürlich auch Erwachsene einen Krampf oder Schwächeanfall erleiden, wenn sie sich zu viel zugemutet haben."
