For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Urgendorf, Westflüchtling auf seinem Bauernhof Zentralbild Krueger 21.7.1953 Bauer Gerhard Gesdorf erhielt sein Gehöft zurück Am 17. Juni 1953 kehrte der republikflüchtige Bauer Gerhard Gesdorf in seinen Heimatort Urgendorf (Kreis Strausberg) zurück. Er erhielt seinen 22 Hektar großen Landwirtschaftlichen Betieb mit Vieh und allem Inventar wieder. Bauer Gesdorf sagte: "Ich hatte mit dem Ablieferungssoll un den Steuern Schwierigkeiten. Da ich keinen Ausweg aus meiner Notlage sah, nahm ich an, daß ich eines Tages eingesperrt würde und flüchtete nach Westberlin. Dort hörte ich dann von dem Beschluß der Regierung der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik und dem neuen Kurs. Erst war ich noch sehr mißtrauisch, doch dann hielt ich es drüben nicht mehr aus und kam am 17. Juni wieder zurück. Ich bin erfreut und erstaunt darüber, daß es mit der Rückgabe meines Betriebes so gut geklappt hat. Das Feld und das Vieh wurde mir in einem ordentlichen Zustand übergeben."
