For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Autoschrott ADN/Peer Grimm/31.7.90/Berlin: Schrott/ Das Ende der "Volkswagen" aus DDR-Produktion. Für viele Trabbis ist die Metallaufbereitung Berlin GmbH letzter Standort, bevor sie verschrottet werden. Für durchschnittlich 100 DM.- kann man sein früheres Statussymbol hier "aufbereiten" lassen. Ca. dreimal soviel Autos wie früher werden jetzt hier abgeliefert, täglich etwa 40 Tonnen zu kleinen Paketen gepreßt. Problem: Kaum noch Abnehmer, da auch das Stahlwerk Brandenburg Schrott zur Weiterverarbeitung seit sechs Wochen nicht mehr annimmt.
