For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
ADN-ZB-Lehmann-22.8.89-pst-Bez. Halle: Wettbewerb-Mit kontinuierlicher Planerfüllung und -überbietung trägt das Kollektiv dens Jugendofens "Ernst Thälmann" in Buna dazu bei, die Jahresproduktion von mehr als einer Million Tonnen Normalkarbid zu sichern. Die Suche nach Lösungen zur effektivsten Fahrweise des Ofens brachte das Kollektiv - hier Abschnittsleiter Siegfried Hadulla (l.) mit Abstichmann Klaus Ketzler - im Wettbewerb nach vorn. - Siehe auch 1989-0822/3N. Das im Lichtbogen bei rund 2.300 Grad Celsius aus Branntkalk und Koks gewonnene Karbid ist Ausgangsstoff für etwa die Hälfte aller Buna-Produkte. Das Kombinat gehört zu den größten Karbid-Erzeugern der Welt."
