For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. ADN-ZB Link 25.1.1989 Bautzen - eine über 1000jährige Stadt (Serie-5 Motive) Im Jahre 1002 wurde die im Südosten der DDR gelegene Stadt Bautzen erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Sie liegt an der Spree, zählt heute 53.000 Einwohner und gilt als deutsch-sorbische Metropole. Viele Angehörige der nationalen Minderheit der Sorben sowie gesellschaftliche Instututionen dieses Volksstammes, wie z.B. ein eigenes Lehrerbildungsinstitut und ein sorbischsprachiger Verlag, sind hier zu Hause. Der Altstadtkern von Bautzen ist in seinem Grundgefüge seit dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg (1618-1648) nahezu unversehrt erhalten geblieben. Die Kreisstadt besitzt eine leistungsfähige und über die Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannte Industrie, Betriebe des Schienenfahrzeugbaus, der Landmachinen- und Fahrzeugindustrie Polygraphie und des Fernmeldewesens. |
