ADN-ZB Gahlbeck 6.1.1989 Leipzig: Das älteste Bach-Denkmal in Leipzig, das sich an der Einmündung zum Thomaskirchhof vor der Thomaskirche befindet, wurde im Jahre 1843 enthüllt. Gestiftet wurde es von Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, entworfen und gestaltet von dem Dresdner Adademieprofessoe Eduard Bendemann, ausgeführt durch den Leipziger Bildhauer Hermann Knaur und den Steinmetzmeister Moritz Hiller. Das Denkmal erinnert an die Tätigkeit Bachs als Komponist, Orgelspieler, Lehrer und Kantor. Im September 1989 findet in Leipzig das VI. Internationale Bachfest der DDR in Verbidnung mit dem 64. Vachfest der Neuen Bachgesellschaft statt. |
