For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. ADN-ZB-Roeske-21.12.1988 Schiller-Denkmal wieder vor dem Schauspielhaus in Berlin. Nach umfangreichen Restaurierungs-und Wiederherstellungsarbeiten wurde das von vier Heroinnen umgebene Schiller-Denkmal von Reinhold Degas (1831-1911) wieder am alten Ort in Berlin aufgestellt. Im Jahre 1986 kehrte die Statue des aufrechtstehenden, in imaginäre Ferne blickenden und mit Dichterlorbeer geschmückten Schiller im Rahmen des Austausches aus Berlin(West) in die DDR-Hauptstadt zurück. Die Schiller umgebenden "Damen" wurden von Spezialisten des Institutes für Denkmalpflege Berlin neu geschaffen. Das Monument war 1864 dem Gewinner einer "Concurrenz-Ausschreibung" des Berliner Magistrats,eben jenem Reinhold Degas, im Auftrag gegeben worden. Die Grundsteinlegung hatte früher, zum 100.Geburtstag Friedrich Schillers, am 10.November 1859, stattgefunden. Als im Jahre 1936 die Hitlerfaschisten den Platz zu einem Aufmarschort umfunktionierten, entfernten sie das Standbild. |
