For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Ballenstedt, Brigadier, Forstarbeiter ADN-ZB Lehmann 10.2.1988 Zum Beitrag: Vom Pfaffenberg zur Rinkemühle - Fichtenholz der Harzwälder sorgsam genutzt. Meister der Forstwirtschaft Hans-Joachim Ledwoyt, 26 Jahre alt, leitet eine Jugendbrigade des Staatlichen Forstwirtschaftsbetriebes Ballenstedt. Beim Einschlag eines Bestandes an Fichten nahe der Ortschaft Schielo im Harz rechnen die Männer im Durchschnitt mir vier Minuten, um einen der bis zu 20 Meter hohen Bäume fachgerecht zu Fall zu bringen und zu entasten. "Jeder von uns gibt sein Bestes", schätzt der Jugendbrigadier ein. "Natürlich drücken wir bei diesem für unsere Arbeit idealen Winterwetter ohne Schnee und Minustemperaturen auf Tempo. Im Vordergrund steht dabei jedoch, die Qualität des Rohholzes zu sichern, das für die Holzwerke Rinkemühle bestimmt ist." (hierzu gehören die Fotos 1988/0210/300N-303N!)
