For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Magdeburg, Teufelsbrunnen
ADN-ZB Uhlemann 2.8.86 Magdeburg: Teufelsbrunnen-Der Brunnen in der Magdeburger Leiterstraße, eine große "Badewanne" mit einem Durchmesser von 3, 40 Meter, hat sich im Nu die Sympathie der Magdeburger erobert. Der obere Rand der Brunnenschale aus Bronze wird von 22 kleinen Plastiken - Märchen- und Fabelwesen - bevölkert. Vier lebensgroße reale Figuren, die Badende darstellen, schließen das Ensemble zur Straße hin ab. Geschaffen wurde dieses originelle, heiter stimmende Kunstwerk von dem in Magdeburg lebenden Bildhauer Heinrich Apel. Die Brunnenschale wurde im Betriebsteil Waren des Dieselmotorenwerkes Rostock gegossen. Die Figuren erhielten im VEB Takraf Lauchhammer ihre bronzene Gestalt. Arbeiter des Bau- und Montagekombinats Magdeburg montierten die Anlage. Mitte Juni 1986 feierten die Magdeburger die Einweihung mit einem großen Brunnenfest.
